WSTDA 2009 Annual Meeting |
Web Sling
Technical
Committee Report
By
Shaun Glass,
Web Sling Technical Committee Chairman
Hello everybody from the webbing world or
from all things soft. Well the spring meeting is coming up and there is
a lot on the plate for the committee.
We should be looking at getting pocket cards approved or at least some
prototypes ready for the committee to look at. Pocket cards are useful
tools for any rigger in the field to use as a quick reference.
UV warning sheets hopefully will be resolved and put to the committee
after this meeting.
As for new items going that are going to be discussed are:
-
recommended pin size diameter and
maybe even edge radii. This topic I believe is long overdue for
discussion and believe that there are riggers out there that would
like to see the research done on this topic.
-
Red warning core yarns.
-
Last but not least its that time
again to review the Web Sling Standard (WS-1). This as you know is a
long drawn out process but necessary in an industry where new
product and new types of ideas enter into rigging procedures. This
instills an up to date standard in an ever fluid environment.
The Web Sling Technical Committee has a
lot of work to do but I think we are all up to the task of objectively
looking into these matters and solving them with the industry in mind.
Hope to see you in North Carolina and have a safe trip. |
