WSTDA 2009 Annual  Meeting

Testing Committee Report

By Charles Lucas, Testing Committee Chairman

The Testing Committee is working on several projects:

  • We are working with the Load Securement Committee to develop a protocol for testing tiedown webbing with edge cuts, abrasion and UV exposure. Karl Keisewitt has done some independent testing that may reduce the number of samples required to determine the results. He cycled the edge cut and abraded samples and experienced very low cycle life. A Powerpoint presentation will be made to the Committee in Asheville.

  • The Committee has been assigned the project to rewrite Mil Spec 4108 and blend in the important parts of ASTM D6770 and D6775.

  • Investigating and developing a protocol for Zero Defects.

  • We will consider whether we can use the AWRF Sling Analyzer raw data to develop a WLL reduction for small radii.
