WSTDA 2009 Annual  Meeting

Load Securement Technical Committee Report

By Karl Keisewitt, Tie Down Committee Chairman

A lot of new developments are happening in our load securement technical committee. We are establishing two brand-new standards: one for load binders and chain tie downs as well as one for our WSTDA- T 5 „ Interior Van Securement Standard.“ In St. Louis, we agreed to develop four groups of interior van securement products: Synthetic web straps; logistic tracks and pan-fittings; beams, bars, and beam sockets; and cargo friction bars. For all these product groups, we are going to create three chapters: construction, standard procedures for testing, and recommended operating practices in the same format as our WSTDA –T- 1. This is our main project for the near future, and we are going to invest most of our time and efforts to push this new standard. Thanks to everybody who is taking part and is sharing his or her expertise!

Besides that, we are going to discuss the update for tie down warning sheets and labels as well as the ongoing work on the zero-defect testing project.

See you all in Asheville!
