WSTDA 2008 Spring Meeting

Tie Down Committee Report

By Karl Keisewitt, Tie Down Committee Chairman

Because of the excellent work of our committee members, many projects have been initiated and successfully implemented. During our Las Vegas meeting, the committee finalized the work on T4, the standard for synthetic webbing for tie downs and completed the tie down manual (T2). After successful completion of these two standards, we will now start to review the tie down warning sheet and tag.

We also have two major future projects in our pipeline. Firstly, the board was asked to get permission to create a load binder standard. In order to do so, an ad-hoc committee was convened. The second big project is charged with developing an interior van lashing standard. We have reached an agreement that this interior van standard does include synthetic products but should not be limited to synthetic products.

To be able to work on these two new standards, it was agreed to ask the board to change our association bylaws. So during our next meeting in Newport, Rhode Island, we will have a lot of things on our agenda. But, then again, with these fantastic committee members ...

I look forward to seeing you in May.
