Tie Down Committee Report

Many thanks to each member of the Tie Down Committee for the very effective meeting we had on November 13th in Indianapolis. The Tie Down Committee approved the final version of T-3 and forwarded it to the Board of Directors for approval. This was followed by a discussion of the work the Tie Down Committee has to do within the next couple of months. There are many things to do!

The Board has authorized the Tie Down Committee to continue pursuing the development of standards or products dealing with non-synthetic cargo control equipment. This may include ratchet binders, chain binders, load binders and interior van products.

An out of service manual or poster for tie downs will be created. This brochure, manual or poster can be used as a training tool for tie down users.

We also want to begin reviewing T-4. It was agreed that the elongation of webbing should be discussed during this review process.

Finally we decided that the Committee should review the Tie Down Warning Sheet and Tie Down Warning Label to ensure that they are consistent with the current version of T-1.

To manage all these jobs we created various task forces. Many members of the Tie Down Committee and WSTDA members agreed to be part of one of these task forces. Thanks to everybody for this great support!
