WSTDA 2007 Annual Meeting

Testing Committee Report

By Charles Lucas, Testing Committee Chairman

The testing committee recently completed an edge testing program on roundslings at Sherry labs in Oklahoma. The tests consisted of testing, three different sizes of roundslings against four different corner radii and compared them to the standard pin diameter from WSTDA. There were five slings tested on each size radius from five different manufacturers. The data has now been turned over to the roundsling committee, who will interpret the data and determine how it can best be used.

We will begin a review of military standard 4108 A to see if it should be revised are updated to the standards of today. This document has served the industry for a number of years but some of the language and techniques are antiquated.

The testing committee would solicit ideas and recommendations for new products and themes for ads to promote our existing publications from the general membership. We have been assigned this responsibility but would appreciate any and all input from the general membership.

We have prepared a list of available testing laboratories using a list provided by the cordage Institute. If you know of other laboratories that are capable of testing our types of products, we would be glad to add them to our list.
