Why We Belong
Members' thoughts on the value they derive from belonging to WSTDA.

The “new” WSTDA is one that attracted me from my very first meeting I attended. This association provides me with a wealth of technical information and benefits, and an opportunity to become involved in an exchange of Ideas with my contemporaries.

The meeting sites, members, directors and officers, as well as the executive director, made me feel welcome from the beginning and provide a stellar degree of professionalism and dedication.

To put things in perspective, the WSTDA provides valuable resources for the synthetic sling and load securement industries: product specifications, user manuals, tags, labels and important reports, like UV Study and Edge Radii information. These contributions provide a basis of support for other important organizations like AMSE, ACRP and the AWRF.

The WSTDA meetings are always part of my schedule and will always command time and participation from me, with time being a very scarce commodity.

WSTDA plays a critical role in the tie down industry – constantly helping to shape and improve it. It is important to be involved in the development of our industry personally, rather than being on the outside, looking in. WSTDA provides that opportunity.

From my very first meeting I realized what a unique environment WSTDA offered. A room full of manufacturers and suppliers, most of whom are competitors, working together for the industry and not one’s own personal gain. At the same time, I learned very quickly that by personal involvement in WSTDA the “gains” are a given.

The WSTDA is an organization that is actively involved in the development of industry knowledge centered around slings and tie downs. As a high tenacity yarn manufacturer, DSM Dyneema has recently joined the WSTDA and we are very positive as to what the WSTDA brings us; a good and open introduction to the players and knowledge in the market.

Furthermore the WSTDA membership provides us with the possibility to proactively work together with sling manufacturers in the US to share ideas and cooperate in future developments of this exciting market.
