Testing
Technical Committee
By
Charles Lucas, Chair
The WSTDA Testing Committee is involved in
several projects and I hope to report on them at the next meeting:
-
The testing of CVSA cuts on straps: We
did some tests at Crosby and the results were very different from
those that Karl did. We are asking Karl to repeat his tests to the
same protocol as was used at Crosby. Also, Luke Loy From the Federal
DOT offered to obtain some used strap for tests and recommended that
we do some tests at 11/2 time WLL.
-
The revision of Fed A-4108 is still
not complete. We are expanding it to include web up to 12 inches,
and had some difficulty defining the conditional requirements. We
had to differ from ASTM in the time element.
-
The WSTDA board approved a request to
contact Alan Boerke of Q-LAB for a quote to analyze our UV data.
-
Dr. Tipton recommended that we also
test some 3 and 4 inch sling web on the radii fixture. Greg
Babinchek agreed to do a sample check and see "if" it follows a
linear progression.
-
We voted to dispose the samples from
the radii tests except those requested by the fabricator.
-
Tom Knox of Ancra was elected as vice-
chair and approved by the Board.
