WSTDA 2007 Fall Meeting

Testing Committee Report

By Charles Lucas, Testing Committee Chairman

The Testing Committee is pleased to see that the results of our last two tests have begun to filter into the standard of web slings and roundslings. The Web Sling Committee has established a usable life for the different types of web sling material. This life cycle will be added to their warning sheet and should reduce sling failure from the effects of UV degradation.

The Roundsling Committee has taken the results from the edge radius tests on roundslings and established a reduction to be applied to roundslings when use with these corner radii. This should also reduce the damage to roundslings from excess stress caused by small corner radii.
