Web Sling Technical Committee Report

The Web Sling Technical Committee has completed work on two major projects since our last meeting in Canada. The WB-1 standard dealing with webbing for web slings initially failed to pass Board approval and was returned to committee. That standard has been re-worked and at the time of this printing has been formatted and is being voted on by our Board of Directors.

The WS-2 mini-manual has been revised as well and is currently being re-formatted before moving on to the Board for vote. In addition to the standard mini-manual, which will be in a new size of 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, an additional version will be formatted in a new pocket size version of 3-5/8” x 5-1/2”.

We will have several topics of discussion at our next meeting in November that have been briefly discussed in the past. Among those topics will be whether this committee wishes to move forward with a funding request for D/d testing and cycle testing of web slings with a definition of scope and purpose. We will also be discussing what, if any, action might be taken on the topic of subjective removal from service criteria for web slings.

The committee has many strong members at this time but we are always looking for fresh input and new talent. I would like to extend an invitation to anyone with an interest to participate to let me know. We would welcome your presence. Have a safe journey to Annapolis and we will see everyone there.
